Files System Commands - Help
____________________________
[N]ew Files since last Logon:
_____________________________
If you choose [N], you will be given a sub-menu:
FILES - New [# - #], [A]ll, [U]pload, [Enter] = Upload
[# - #] = This will be displayed as the number of file directories
available on the BBS (ie [1 - 20]). By entering a specific
number, any new files in that directory will be displayed
to you.
[A]ll = GAP will scan ALL the available file directories.
[U]pload = GAP will scan only the upload directory. If you choose
this option while in a Forum, you will be shown both the
main upload directory and the specific forum upload
directory (if available).
[Enter] = Gap will scan the Upload directory for new files
After selecting which directories to scan, you will be asked for a
starting date. The date you LAST issued a NEW files listing will be
shown as the default date. You may change this date to any VALID
date and GAP will use the date you entered instead of the default
date. If you change the date, it must be a valid date :
MM/DD/YY
After entering a date (or pressing return at the date prompt),
GAP will ask you if you wish to view the new files in Enhanced
or Condensed mode. The Enhanced listing shows the complete
description of the file in addition to allowing you to view the
archive contents and download. The Condensed listing shows
an abbreviated view of the files (1 file per line).
Please note that GAP allows a caller to place a file into whatever
directory the caller deems fit (based on sysop's discretion). If
you habitually scan only the upload directory, you may miss a great
many uploads if the sysop allows callers to upload to specific
directories.
Commands may be stacked :
To see all new files since the last time you issued the [N]ew
command, type :
N A S E or N A S C
To see new files in directory 1 left since 02/06/88 type :
N 1 04/15/89 E or N 1 04/15/89 E
When using stacked commands, the 'S' means 'SINCE' and the date
you last issued the [N]ew files command will be substitued for
the 'S'.
